John is a contemporary visual artist based in Liverpool, UK with an interest in landscape, birds and symbolism. His practice also encompasses traditional Christian iconography. This work is a copy in egg tempera and gold of the famous 15th century Novgorod icon of St George and the Dragon in the State Russian Museum, and was completed as a private commission for a Companion of the Guild of St George in 2019. It was solemnly blessed at the Russian Orthodox Church of St Elisabeth the New Martyr, Wallasey.
