The façade mosaics “Jesus Christ“, “Annunciation” and “Trinity” were commissioned by the Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Almaty, Kazakhstan and the Russian Orthodox Church “Annunciation” in Aktau, Kazakhstan in 2006-07.
By this art works the artist aimed to contribute to the Christian presence in multi-faith Kazakhstan and pay tribute to his grandfather, Russian Orthodox priest Grigory Aleksandrovich Tverdokhlebov, a well-respected and influential figure in the South-Russian Christian community, who was repressed by the Soviet authorities in 1937.
